My Mom, whose name is Shirley Marjorie, took an Alaskan Cruise back in September of 1988. While cruising Glacier Bay, the ship came upon a glacier named Margerie. While viewing this spectacular site, a large piece of ice broke off and fell into the water. They call this "calfing". She was thrilled that the glacier, with her name, put on a spectacular show. She took a picture right after the calfing. I am sharing that picture with you. I knew that was a wonderful memory for her. So I took the picture and made a fabricscape for her. I gathered a variety of fabrics to complete my piece. And used my imagination for what could possible be under the water. I added treasures from her mother's sewing box. I also used a few things from hers. Then I added a few of my own. 3 generations of buttons, beads and lace. I wanted to share this memorable piece of work with you.

Kathy: I am so glad you are featuring your wonderful "Margerie Glacier" on your blog and am proud you chose one of my Alaskan pictures with which to work. The glaciers are so beautiful and awe inspiring. The use of "You Raise Me Up" as the music for the piece is special as well, though I am only famiiar with Josh Groban's arrangement. I do like Celtic Women so much and love their version of the song. "Thanks for the Memories"........LUV ya, Mom
