Fabric Persona Journal

I took this class from Keely Barham last year at Art & Soul. I finished the covers of the book in class, but never assembled it. With my new found love of working with fabric, I finally finished this adorable journal. We made a little doll to attach to the cover. I made a cat and carried that theme throughout the covers.

Gaby Bee

I have always admired Gaby's work. Everything she creates is absolutely wonderful. We recently traded ATC's. Here are the two I received from her. Aren't they gorgeous! Check out her blog to see more of her amazing work...   http://colorfuladventures.blogspot.com/

She also sent me some wonderful German ephemera to use in my art.

Thank you so much Gaby. I enjoyed trading with you. I hope we can do it again sometime.

No Hunting Allowed

I enjoy my country living here in the beautiful state of Tennessee. We have a lot of wild life that pass through our 60 acres. It is a sanctuary for all that live here. No hunting allowed. I was working in the garden yesterday and a mama turkey came out for a stroll with her 11 babies. Of course I had to stop what I was doing to watch the show. Too cute!

We were bombarded with stray cats a few years ago. Not wanting them to starve, I started feeding them.  The raccoons found the bowls and dove in. They continue to come up for dinner every day.

DJ Book

I took a fabric book class from the very talented, DJ Pettitt in Birmingham, AL. at an art retreat hosted by the lovely Joyce Vance. Her choice of location for the class was impeccable. It was in the Five Points area of downtown, a very artsy and hip community. I have already posted a slide show in my previous post of the event. I had a wonderful time visiting and arting with friends and eating at wonderful restaurants.

My book is slowly coming together. I never finish anything in class. I like to work at a slow pace and use things from home that I didn't bring to class. I have finished my main book cover and my 3 signature covers.  Now I have to fill my 3 signatures with papers & fabric and and then attach them to the insides of my cover. Here are pictures of my book in progress.

DJ1                                               My front cover using one of DJ's images.

DJ2                                      Back cover of my book.

DJ3                                     Front of 1st signature cover.

DJ8                                      Back of 1st signature cover.

DJ9                                     Cover of 2nd signature cover.

DJ7                                     Back of 2nd signature cover.

DJ4                                     Front of 3rd signature cover.

DJ5                                       Back of 3rd signature cover.

Ties That Bind

366054767

A year ago several ladies put together an art doll project to help raise money for ovarian cancer awareness and research. They called it the "Ties that Bind". You can read all about it on their blog and see all of the charms and ties that were donated here, http://www.projecttiesthatbind.blogspot.com/

Please take the time to view all of the incredible work that was donated to make this doll a reality. Be sure to click on older posts down at the bottom. You don't want to miss a thing. I felt very honored to be asked to participate in this wonderful project.  The doll is now complete and the raffle has began.

Please visit Scrapbook Royalty to purchase tickets, http://www.scrapbookroyalty.com/tiesthatbind.html

From everyone that worked on this project, a very sincere thank you for your donation.
